F1 champion Nico Rosberg hopes to pursue television analyst opportunities

Nico Rosberg is exploring new opportunities inside the Formula 1 paddock, but it has nothing to do with driving a race car.

The retired yet reigning world champion attended a preseason test in Spain earlier this season, in addition to the Monaco Grand Prix near his current residence. But over the weekend in Japan, Rosberg appeared as a British television analyst.

Veteran correspondent Martin Brundle praised him for his poise and insight.

“Nico is an asset for any broadcast,” he is quoted as saying by Auto Motor und Sport. “He knows these hybrid cars, all the drivers, all the circuits. And he’s the reigning champion.”

Rosberg, who suddenly quit just days after winning the title last November, hinted that the experience has pushed him to possibly do even more next season.

“I believe I can bring a new level to the expert opinion role,” he said. “If I enjoy it, I’ll come back. Perhaps this year. But I’m not tied to any (TV) station yet.”
